Bedsores in San Francisco Nursing Homes

Bedsores, or pressure ulcers, are a common injury that occurs due to elder abuse at nursing homes. These painful ulcers can occur on any part of the body, develop quickly and progress rapidly. If left untreated, the skin and tissue dies which then can cause a bacterial infection and even death.

In the early stages, bedsores appear as red spots that may feel spongy or firm and are easily preventable by keeping the patient from lying in one spot for a long period of time.  Patients who are paralyzed are especially at risk; however, those who are bedridden, use wheelchair or cannot change positions on their own could be subjected to bedsores without proper care.

If you notice a bedsore on a nursing home resident, contact the nursing home staff doctors or nurses.  If the bedsores do not improve, contact our San Francisco Elder Abuse Attorneys immediately. Your loved one’s health is at risk and the quicker that you take action, the faster that they will be provided with medical attention.
